Welcome

COSEE New England is developing innovative ways to help ocean scientists, informal science educators and K-12 educators offer high-quality ocean science education throughout New England.  We are part of the National COSEE Network.

Sign up for NEwswave!

You are invited to subscribe to NEwswave, a bi-weekly e-newsletter containing updates on COSEE-NE programs and projects, news from our sister organization, the New England Ocean Science Education Collaborative (NEOSEC), and up-to-the-minute links to reports, conferences, jobs, events and resources of interest to the New England ocean sciences education community.  Visit the NEwswave Archives to see past issues -- and for up-to-the-minute news, visit the NEwswave blog.

What's New?

Ocean Literacy Resources

We now have two banners introducing the Ocean Literacy Essential Principles.  COSEE NE and the Census of Marine Life, Gulf of Maine Area collaborated to produce a banner for educator-audiences; the New England Ocean Science Education Collaborative (NEOSEC) has produced a display banner for public audiences.  Design files for both are available from pdibona[at]neaq.org.

Telling Your Story Workshop: Take it home!

Our Telling Your Story workshop for scientists is now ready for take-out to your own institution! Visit the TYS Resource Page for all the materials you'll need to facilitate your own training, including a Facilitators' Handbook.

Ocean Literacy Summit

Save the date for the next Ocean Literacy Summit, to be held November 12, 2010 and hosted by the University of New Hampshire.  Our theme is the great diversity of life and ecosystems supported by the ocean (Principle #5). Proceedings from the 2008 Summit (which focused on Principle #3, the connection between ocean and climate) are available on the NEOSEC website. Curious about the first Ocean Literacy Summit, which introduced the OL Principles? Visit online.
